Adams, Robert Merrihew
(1937-)
   A co-founder and past president of the Society of Christian Philosophers, Robert Adams has wide-ranging interests: he has written on ethics, where his work has included a defence of the divine-command theory, has discussed the problem of evil and whether there is a best of all possible worlds, and has tackled the question of middle knowledge, arguing that God does not have knowledge of what one would have freely done in non-actual circumstances. He has also written an important book on Leibniz. He is married to Marilyn McCord Adams.
